Wonderful book, frighteningly detailed. I am however, disappointed with the lack of explanation of how zombies actually stay alive. Well."alive".
In the event of a hostile zombie takeover, I now feel one-hundred-percent prepared for the events and am confident I will survive. This was a fun read - not rolling on the ground laughing hilarity, but cute and fun for fans of the walking dead (voodoo or otherwise).
I constantly worry about wide-scale zombie outbreaks. Don't just thumb through it; study it, learn it, KNOW IT. The information within this book is more valuable than anything else I have come across. Before reading The Zombie Survival Guide, I don't know how many times I've been thrown out of Wal-Mart and various flea markets for attempting to dispatch a zombie, only to discover later that it was an actual living person and not a member of the undead.
I can't tell you how many nights I've lost sleep due to the thoughts of a zombie uprising. I have learned that using chainsaws and shotguns are not only loud and attract more undead to my fortified location, but I will eventually run out of fuel and ammo eventually during an ongoing attack - large swords and trench spikes are the quieter way to go, and they never need a refill of gas or bullets. I habitually wonder what I would do, what actions I would take, to protect me and mine when the time comes and we find ourselves caught in the middle of an all out attack by the undead horde.
The book greatly helps the reader to differentiate between the two. However, I am now able to abate my fear somewhat after thoroughly reading this book more than a dozen times. I cannot thank you enough, Max Brooks, for taking the time to write what I believe to be the world's definitive undead protection manual.
Valuable information that I never gave much thought to before reading the book, and only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the vast amount of zombie combat tactics described within. This book is indispensable. After all, it's only a matter of time before the living dead rise and attack.
At the end of the guide, you will believe in Zombies. Amzing. THE ZOMBIE SURVIVAL GUIDE is a masterfully written book combining humanity's worst fears with some great humor. Max Brooks is very thorough and covers every spot in the event of a zombie attack, even ranking attacks by size of outbreak (very helpful). Highly recommended.
Downright laugh out loud funny. A little bit annoying to read right through, but taken in small doses a great thing to laugh at. Fun to read with another person and enjoy the jokes.
